Founders - You Can't Outsource Responsibility

Aug 6, 2025

“I’m all in on “Founder Mode” and taking ownership at every level of our startup”

Excellent, as a founder you can’t outsource ultimate responsibility. It’s all on you.

That goes for Recruitment the same way it goes for any other essential area of company building.

Candidate Experience - how your brand is represented during the interview process, how your team interacts with candidates, it’s all on you as the founder.

The attraction and sales elements in recruiting too - how you sell the opportunity, response rates, pipeline building, understanding candidate needs, what’s important to them and tailoring the offer accordingly, again, as the founder, it’s all ultimately your responsibility.

If you scale and hire an Internal Recruiter / Head of Talent, they should be working as a direct extension of you on all things recruiting, bringing in vital skills and experience. But if you still hire the wrong people, or hire too slowly, missing releases and deadlines - you’re ultimately the one to blame.

If this sounds scary to you as a founder, it’s probably because you haven’t taken the time to learn fundamental recruitment skills and processes and apply them effectively.
